Kids oasis is an initiative of the Leiden migrant support desk to fill the gaps in the integration process and start at an early age. This reduces inequality and is part of strategic sustainable development so that everyone is provided with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes needed to bring about fruitful change in society. Kids Oasis is a project where children are read to by enthusiastic volunteers. Because it is important for these children in particular that they have access to appealing books and stories. This stimulates children’s language development and brings people into contact with each other. A good story can lead to creativity, relaxation, a larger vocabulary and contributes to the child’s image. Books also provide emotional support to children and give them access to a new world. In addition to the reading, an activity will always be offered that fits the story.
