The Repair Café promotes repairing as an alternative to throwing away, it wants to retain repair knowledge and – by organising repair meetings – strengthens social cohesion in the neighbourhood/district/city district. The community development work of De Schoor, Welzijn in Almere, together with a number of partners (including De Kringloper) and of course the volunteers, gives form and content to this. Initiators organise a Repair Café every month. Residents of Almere can come here with their broken items and clothing to repair them on site, together with the repairers present. The parts used for the repair must of course be paid for, but you determine what the volunteers' time is worth to you by contributing to the tip jar. What can you offer for repair at the Repair Cafés? Most devices that you can transport to the Repair Café yourself can be offered for repair. Our technicians are good at computer hardware problems. For software problems, you can contact the Almere computer helpdesk. In addition, the Repair Café also repairs textiles, such as a small tear in your clothing or a button that is about to fall off. In Kruidenwijk and in the neighbourhood centre de Bosgouw you can also have clocks repaired. For more information, visit: www.repaircafe-almere.nl
